Chacmool!A chacmool is an ancient sacred sculpture in the form of an alert, but reclining figure. Chacmools can be found in some of the temples of Central Mexico and the Yucatan. They typically have a vessel of some sort on their belly where offerings may have been placed or human sacrifices carried out. (For a more complete scholarly description of chacmools, click here.)

Many artists have been fascinated with the chacmool, among them author Carlos Fuentes and sculptor Henry Moore.

The Chacmool Press takes inspiration from this mysterious ancient figure and its role as a mediator between the earthly and the divine.
